1936 ford coupes- door glass size
I'm pretty new to the fords so I may ask some foolish questions from time to time. I've had an old 36 I bought some time ago, needs complete resto but mostly complete-has engine tranny int,.My question is I recently bought another, driver, and it was missing the thin trim that goes top and sides of the window for trim cover. I was surprised there is an inch difference between the 2- coupes, in length. Will I find more differences as I go? Could one be a std. and one deluxe?. Thanks Don

I believe you will find the 3 window coupe door is wider (40") and hence the window is longer that the five window coupe door opening (34 1/4") which would have a shorter glass opening.

Re: 1936 ford coupes- door glass size
Is one a 3 window and one a 5 window? it isn't just the lack of the rear side windows that makes the difference.
Both are nice, btw, the 3 windows are especially sought after. Mart. |

Many years ago the right door class cracked in my 36 5 window, it was an original date coded window which really ticked me. As time went by I purchased a couple 36 Fords, one a 2 dr the other a 4 dr. The 4dr was a very nice original car that had a very bad engine. I was looking the 4dr over trying to figure out that I was going to do with the car. Low and behold looking at the door class I noted that the glass had the same date code as my car. I removed the door glass from the two cars, noting that they were the same, only difference was the location of the glass track. I was able to re-position the glass tracks with the aid of a rubber hammer, re-installed the windows. Cracked window problem in my coupe solved. I guess I should add that this event happened in 1960-61 so the glass was not that old.
