Directly behind the muffler. This clamp / stand serves two purposes. One, it clamps the muffler outlet / tail pipe inlet together and two, it serves to position the exhaust system. There is a fairly flat piece of steel that screws to the frame that provides support to this stand / clamp. In the near center of the steel bracket is a square hole that positions it (the stand).
Any Ford parts book has a fairly good illustration of this.
