I am rebuilding my T85 and interested in replacing the input shaft flow thru bearing with a sealed bearing. However if it aint in the computer the parts man claims it is not available. Does anybody have a part number or any info where i might find this bearing?? Thanks

Do you mean the input shaft bearing (7025 or 7065) as your model does not have the front seal (7A283) and you are concerned with possible contamination?

Yes i refered to 7065 and i do have a new7A283 so i feel that is is the correct application however i think that bearing is a bit too sloppy and should be replaced I had heard that the new and improved replacement is a sealed bearing so i thought i might try it I am trying tho get rid of any problems I experienced with vibrations just hopeing to cover all the bases Thank you for the comeback have you seen or heard of the replacement being a sealed bearing???? beleiive me i an always use good advice!!

Try Mac Van Pelt at Van Pelt Sales. He's THE Ford transmission guru so I think he'd know if there's a sealed bearing available, and if there is he might have it. Just google him. BTW he's a member of this forum and good people.

Yeah, VAN PELT or there are BEARING/SEAL specialty stores in most areas.

Be careful as there is a lot of OFF-SHORE JUNK coming through.

I can see having one that is sealed on one side but I wouldn't want a fully sealed bearing in there. Mac would be the one most likely to have what you need. The overdrive unit has a tendency to share oil with the gearbox side whether you want them to or not. There is a lockout rod that goes through. They use the same oil on both sides anyway.

Where are you getting your parts? I have a T85 with R 11 OD and want to go thru it before I install it. It looks good inside but I don't have any history on it. Came out of a 57 Ford. Thanks for any info.

I will get ahold of Mac I have had great results with him on a t 86. i understand the r11 oil skaring with the t 85 main case but i am not sure if i can improve the input shaft bearing with a sealed bearing, probably just get a new flow through bearing..... I like the second opinions and learning the best possible rebuild as that dang tranny is too heavy for an old man to pop in and out! I am going to call the manual tranny Guru { Mac V.P.} still value your experience and knowledge. Thanks I'll let ya know what happens!
