How do I time my Model B engine ?
I have a Model B engine with the B distributor (mechanical advance ) and a stock Model A timing gear cover with the round boss (P/N A-6019-B )
But the timing gear has no indent hole that is used to feel Top Dead Center (TDC) for the engine. I read an article in "How to Restore Your Model A" Volume 6, page 63, that the B timing indent hole is 19 degrees before TDC. So if I drill a hole in the timing gear at 19 degrees before TDC, , what are the next steps ? Is 19 degrees before TDC when the points should open to fire the spark plug on #1 cylinder ? Re: How do I time my Model B engine ?
Since you should take it off to drill it why not just replace it with a Model B timing cover?
