My dad just picked up a 1930 Model A truck in fair-good condition.
Can you recommend some books to help us get started. (repair, reconditioning, ect)

The tailgate should be steel. Good books are the Owner's Manual, Restoration Guidelines, Service Bulletins, as well as parts books from some of the Model A parts houses, such as A&L, Bert's, Bratton's, Snyder's, and others.

And of course you already found the best resource, this site!

Also, the truck has a wooden tail gate with a metal Ford Emblem on the back?
When I look on line I only see metal tail gates. Is this wood tail gate original or did Ford only have metal tail gates for the 1930 trucks?

Thanks
Mitchal, I found this book invaluable when working on my pickup. You can purchase this from Snyder's Antique Auto. Afordman31
