More F1 clutch questions
I have a 1949 F1 239 flathead with a crash box non syncro 4spd. It had a 10inch clutch, but it seems that the 4spd should have come with a 11inch clutch.Should I change to an eleven, would it be more original.....advantages?

Re: More F1 clutch questions
+since it is doubtful that you will be hauling a heavy load, you won't need an 11 clutch, 10" is just fine, not completely sure your F1 even with the four speed came stock with an 11", I am sure it could have been special ordered.

Re: More F1 clutch questions
My 49 F1 came out of the factory with the heavy duty 3 speed box (synchro 2nd and 3rd and lower 1st and 2nd gear ratios than the lighter duty box) and the 11 inch clutch and pressure plate. I looked at mine after 38 years of driving and there was no noticeable wear. Some say this is a much heavier clutch than the 10 inch but I have never found it so. The 10 inch will be fine for standard driving with the 11 inch more suitable for heavy haulage.

Re: More F1 clutch questions
My 48 F1 came with the 11" clutch also - and I agree with the guys about the 10 working just fine unless you make your truck work hard like mine has to.
