Default 41 ford pickup question.

I took off the passenger (right) rear fender today and underneath, on the bed side is an olive green colour, not very glossy. I'm going to say this is an earlier 41 as it does not have the deep drop front crossmember.

So my question is, was an olive green colour available in 1941 as a civilian colour, or would it indicate that the truck was built for military purposes?

Thanks in advance, Mart.

Matt, I just watched your video on the fender repair on your 1941. I work on my Fords by myself and your video was good for me to watch. Since you are in England with a 1941 American made Ford truck I would say the odds are very good your truck was an armed forces unit when new. My thinking is the Olive Green would be a U.S. Army unit. I had a 1941 dark blue truck once that was U.S. Navy.

Thanks for that, L. Glad you found the video worthwhile. Thing is, this truck was only imported in 2017 so my location is not a factor.

I am still curious if a not very glossy (don't want to say drab) olive colour was available as a civilian option in the early 1941 model year.

Possibly the same question in a different way, then. Would there have been any difference between a truck ordered by an individual and a truck ordered by a government department??

Impossible to answer, I guess.

Mart.
