Default Two piece crank pulley

Is it a good idea to use a 2 pieces crank pulley? I know they are a little more expensive.

with the 2-piece you can get the pulley off without yanking the radiator

there is a type where the 2 pieces screw together, which I dislike. The other type has indexed, machined tabs which in my opinion is a better design

It is handy when you pull an engine or put it back in and you can take the pulley off easy. Gets the pulley out of the way so you don't break it on the front cross member when you try to get the engine over it.

When I put on a new single piece I had to...
remove carpet
remove floorboards
remove throttle linkage
loosen rear motor mount bolts
remove hood
drain radiator
remove radiator shroud
disconnect horn
disconnect headlights
remove radiator
remove front motor mount
remove u-bolts from front cross member
remove gas line
loosen exhaust
loosen fan belt
jack up motor
probably some other things I forgot

Be careful of the two piece pulley. We reviewed them a few years ago and found none up to standard. Since that time Snyder's has made one that is correct as to fit. The others were two short front to back or too small in diameter.

I just installed two of them , with the machined tabs, from Snyders, and they were fine. The design/engineering must have improved as you said
