Took a stock 32 front suspension apart, one of the drums had left hand studs. They look original . Is that correct or a replacement?

Lincolns of the period, yes; Fords, no.

So its a 32 ford drum that someone installed Lincoln studs, or that the entire drum interchanges between a 32 ford and a 32 lincoln ?

They do not interchange. The Lincoln brake drum makes the Ford drum look like an overgrown tea cup by way of comparison. The average '32 Lincoln weighed twice as much as the average '32 Ford, but not withstanding the Lincoln had the better brakes.

From an engineering point of view, left-hand threads make a great deal of sense in certain applications. Anyone who has a table saw deals with left hand threads. In building an automobile, it creates additional costs and confusion. And these days, the clowns with their high-torque impact wrenches could screw you up real good, real fast.

Didn't Chrysler use left hand threads on their offerings years ago? Or is my memory faulty?

Most Chrysler products in the 60s used left hand threads on one side. Also, some early 60s models of Pontiac, Olds and Buick used them.

Some buicks with the finned front drums had left hand lug bolts.

This drum was in good shape and you can see the L on the end of the stud but the lug nuts use 3/4 instead of 13/16.

First time i ever ran into it on a early ford

At my work we still get plenty of trucks and trailers that use Budd wheels with LH thimbles/ nuts.
