Default 38 Pickup Grill

Getting ready to assemble my grill. Does anyone know if the background of the V8 emblem at the top of the grill should be plain, black, or blue? I'm thinking blue, but I couldn't tell for sure on my original before it went to the chrome shop.

FWIW: The 1938 1/2 T emblems from Drake are painted blue.
