Default Mercury M100 logo font

Morning, new to the site so hello. I am a time served engineer, live in New Zealand and have a 1955 Mercury M100. I want to manufacture some bespoke Aluminium steps for the running boards, does anyone know what the font "mercury" is designed in (as shown on the tailgate in the picture)?

I would make it just a little bit different, so Ford can't make you stop after you spend money to make a mold or die. Even though they stopped production of the Mercury, they may still feel ownership. Very nice pickup.

Nice truck. You might just start with these guys, I’ve found them great to work with.

Thanks for all the advice, I am going to get the plates laser cut in Aluminium & finish by hand once I have the font, cheers again.

Hi Quicksand,

I live in Toronto and recently purchased a beautifully restored 1953 Merc M-100. I too would love to finish it by adding "Mercury" aluminum step plates. I do have a reasonably good picture of what the original step plates look like, but have been unsuccessful in finding any NOS or used step plates to purchase. As you may already be a aware, no one seems to be reproducing any Mercury branded/logoed parts for our vehicles. Have you gone ahead with your project and had step plates custom made? If so, I would love to get the details from you. If you haven't proceeded, I would be willing to split the design/production costs with you, so we could both have them produced. Please let me know.

Hi, I haven't done anything yet as I have been rebuilding the engine. If I can find the correct font I will laser cut and machine the foot plates. Let me know if you find the logo, cheers Paul.

Here is a picture of the step plates from a Canadian 1954 Mercury M-100. Let me know how you would like to proceed to get these step plates custom made. I too would like to have them for my '53 pickup, and am happy to participate with you in the cost to re-create them.

Hi, I don't see any picture, however to ensure the accuracy I will need to know the exact font type, cheers.

What about possibly 3D printing? Sometimes used for very small runs of parts or even to make a mold for casting something from a metal not so conducive to 3D printing.

rdouglas, if you want something like that, send ace customs in the link above the picture and an email. I’ve got a set of their Mercury script valve covers, and they did a custom under dash panel to my drawings for a pretty reasonable cost for a one off. Yours might have some market interest.

Here’s the Mercury valve cover

Smile Re: Mercury step plates for 1953 M-100

Its taken a while to get back to this thread but from the advice above I hired Ace Patterns to make me a pair of Mercury step plates for my '53 M-100. Jimmy from Ace Patterns was absolutely fantastic to deal with and is highly recommended for any similar type project!
