Default XF to Zenith, gav doesn't line up ?

Friends, I got a rebuilt zenith from Berts and the GAV rod is about 1/2" off while the rod (perfectly straight) lined up perfectly with the XF. Any thoughts? Thanks

Tom, thank you - it's a 30 - was just playing with it
And connected the gav before tightening the carb
And now she fits! Guess there is enough play between
The wiggle room in the firewall hole and the carb mount
To make it work.

She started great but haven't been able to road test it as its dark here.

The gav is quite a bit stiffer than my old one - how stiff should it be?

Thanks

The GAV only needs to be tight enough to stay where you put it.
