Default 1939 truck door latch and handle

can anybody tell me how the latch and outside door handle come apart on a 1939 ford truck? i also dont know how to get the door lock out either. thanks merle

the 2 screws on the outside is all that hold the handle on, sometimes the square shaft gets twisted from too much pressure on the handle making it hard to come out but it will come. there is a small set screw holding the lock in, you can acess that from a hole in the door edge.

Sometimes that set screw refuses to budge; my solution on my 40 was to drill a hole in the door, interior side, and heat the housing with a small tip torch . After heating, the set screw came out easily.
