Default Engine knock

Ok guys. So after putting almost 2000 miles on my model a since I bought it on September 19th, I notice a knock at an idle... now I haven't checked it all out yet to see if the exhaust is hitting the chassis and I also noticed the front springs for the mount are shot and the front pulley is touching the cross member.... But I'm considering yanking the engine anyways and just go through it.. Anyone have a build tread in these engines..? I wanna put a bigger cam and a good head.. I wanna drive it an have speed .. I really would like to see someone who has built these

My strongest running Model A has a Jim Briarley cam and a Model B head. I suppose one of the 6-1 heads would make it stronger, but I'm satisfied with the B and think the engine will last longer. For me it's not how fast it will go, but how long will it last.

I have laryngitis right now and talking is tough. If you can give me a couple of days to get over this, I have an inserted engine ready to go out the door if you are interested, If not I can rebuild your motor to any spec you require.

Here at J and M Machine, We build Model A engines as well as many other engines on a daily basis. Please email me and I can send you an assortment of pictures which would show the build of the engine from cleaning to finishing. Furthermore depending on where you're from I may have a customer in your area you can speak with in regards to the engine work.

I would highly recommend J&M Machine in Southboro Ma good guys to deal with, good communication, willing to give a fair estimate, emailed me every step of the way pictures included...... My engine is now good for another 80 years!

By the way I opted to go the extra mile and had them install a Burlington, counterweighted crank, a Stipe cam, and a Brumfield head,...and I must say it was worth the extra J&M will do great work and treat you fairly check out their website

Yes, I agree. I went to J and M Machine http://www.jandm-machine.com/. I got photos about once a week of the motor. They answer your questions, and in the end you get all the data sheets on the motor. My motor is very smooth, and they put the high compression head so my sedan makes it up any hill. Lets face it, you can put 20 grand into the body, but if the engine is bad you have a paperweight. Do it right the first time. These guys do Rolls Royce, Packard, anything that has a motor. And they did the only running PT Boat motor.

I've got to agree with the others here, J+M is the place to go for a very professional job. You won't find a better place. They rebuilt my engine maybe 4 years ago. I highly recommend them as they take the time to make sure you end up with a quality job that you will be proud to show off and will last many years to come.

The commercial guys do good work, but one of the great things about a Model A is that except for the machine work, anyone can build it your self. Get some books, do some research, ask questions of friends and on this forum, and you can do it. Save some money, have lots of fun, and feel proud about what you did at the end. Very satisfying.
