Default Ugly ducking flatback ....... oh those sealed beam ..tisk tisk

Another 37 flatback dirt track car but this one is back on the street. Has a hot little flathead with a trick little stock ford aluminum intake. From the orignal Georgetown Speedway. Im sure the critics will cringe at the sight of those silly sealed beams.... all the neah sayers about 37 fords get in line and let the comments fly......all the 37 fans like myself .......enjoy

Neat car. When some us toured Maine and stopped at Walt Duponts, we went up the road to a still operating dirt track. I can see why they needed special air cleaners because they race in a cloud of dirt. Where they home made or available??

I like the sealed beams. In fact I prefer them. My 39 has sealed beams.

I'll cut in line and shamefully admit I have the sealed beam headlights in my '37 fordor humpback and yes indeed they are ugly. I did however soften the look a little bit by adding a pair of gem visors. I guess back in the day drivers were so relieved to have brighter headlights, they didn't care much about the look? You got a nice collection going on there!

Its from a straight buick that was modified way back when to work on the single ford carburetor.

Is the air cleaner a dirt track aid or is it to draw vapors from the breather, or both?

Please explain to a newbie what makes the sealed beams ugly. Are you just so accustomed to stock? So that everything non-stock is 'UgLy''?

On that black car with the cut away fenders, and with the bezels painted black, I don't think they look too bad.

Overall it's a great looking car. I like that style of car. Fangio drove something like that before his grand prix career. (It may have been a Ch*vy - don't shoot me).

Mart.

Oh its not me. Its a reference to some old posts by some critics. Ugly duckling was a l over statement about 37 fords in general.

But as you can see im not the only fan of 37s

The v8 car is a 39 deluxe with a standard hood and 40 headlight buckets. Has a hot 312 y block and runs a franklin champ quick change. Roll.cage.

Cool car. I don't mind the sealed beams, but I would get rid of the alternator.

Won't really need sealed beams if you pull the alternator and the battery goes dead.

I've never been a fan of the sealed beam conversion kits for '37 to '39 Fords but, I do like to be able to see what's in front of me when driving at night... My solution to that problem was to install Road Lamps aka driving lights on my '39 Ford CS and my '39 Lincoln Zephyr. The road lamps I installed have both Hi & Lo beams and they make night driving much more pleasurable.

Not trying to pick nits--- I'm kind of an engine guy and stuff like that jumps out at me. I'm sure some guys won't notice or care.
I run two cars with generators with no problems. Each car has a spare generator in a box in the trunk and never had to use one.
