Default Starter push Rod

I'd like my starter push rod to be a bit longer/taller. With the soundproofing material, floor mat, it is quite short to push. What is the original rod size/thread, etc. Likely I could even make one. What are my options, what have you done with success.
All comments welcomed.
Thanks,
Jim G.

5/16 fine thread. put a lock nut on the rod so you don`t have to screw it in so far.
