*Mr.ModelT has a question on Roadster Tops*
Hello All!
I'm in the process of adapting a '28-'29 Model A roadster top to my '26 roadster. I have a top on my car now (set up for the 12"-14" chopped windshield), but the home made bow assemblies just don't look right for a period "Gowjob". I happened to stumble across a complete, original Model A top assembly not long ago and have begun to work out mounting and how it needs to be altered to fit. The '26-7 T roadster and '28-9 A roadster tops are both basically the same design and they both use the same style straight Poplar bows. I KNOW I will need to narrow the top to fit... My question is, can I use '26-'27 wood bows (which I assume are narrower) with the Model A top irons? ..I can buy Model A bows and cut them down if I have to...but I thought I would ask.. Also, how do I remove/replace the rounded wood corner pieces in the top irons? Her is what I'm working on: Thanks!

Model T wood bows are 1 1/2" wide. Don't know what the A bows are.
The wood in the rectangle ends of the irons is released by prying the lips up on the metal, replace with thin wood strips, cut to size to fit, taper the ends and bevel to slide in. Wood can be steamed or boiled in hot water to make it bend to get in place. |

I will have to do some comparison work as far as length on the bows. The corners on the T bows are very different from the Model A....might be "Interesting" getting the wood into them. I will take some pictures.
