Some tools needed for valve job
Seems like several guys are rebuilding a old flathead this winter as well as my self,,I have collected a few tools over the years that help with a rebuild in particular the valves, can’t really remember were they all came from tho,,the little clip numbered 1 is a very handy thing to install valve assembly, slide assembly in block, install the horseshoe clip ,use a bar to raise assembly up and remove clip from under valve!you can also remove assembly same way same way if guide is not stuck.I also use the dummy valve to get a measurement from seat to lifter with the clearance shim under dummy .014 or .012 transfer that measurement to special tool ,zero that put then put valve in fixture and check for above or below 0. Works pretty slick.but I always insert assembly in block to double check,,the B/D grinder sure helps also
I have several of the little valve clips ,if anyone needs one ,PM me with address and I’ll send one.they come in a box of 16 but-one is all that’s necessary
