Default Oil leak and knock

My car seems to be using more oil and it has a knock under load. I assume it is the rear main. Can it
Be repaired by adjusting shims or does it need a rebuild?

Most likely can be repaired by removing shims. You will need to check all 3 mains with plastiguage. The center main gets the most abuse. The rear main causes the leak. Good luck.

What Phil said! But, if the engine is in the car you might have better luck using the foil method to set the clearance. If you use plastigauge, then be sure to jack up on the crankshaft, so you don't have down pressure from the crankshaft weight and flywheel weight.
