Default Starter Foot pain

Been working on the A for About 3 days now, Moving it back in forth from the RV pad to the garage. Putting in a Van middle seat That requires a lot of modifying
mainly the frame. Heres the problem, I ware tennis shoes that give your foot no support when trying to start The foot starter rod has a nickel size rod head to push down on. Now I'm paying the price with the pain. I welded a 2" washer on the end which should help. Can the starter system be coverted to a push button
system like some of the older cars & what would it take ?
