Default Assembling Open Car Windshield Gaskets

I ordered the 28-29 Open Car Windshield Gasket set and I see an issue.

The rubber gaskets that fit into the narrow trough of the Windshield Stanchions are to narrow.

I believe that these gaskets should be wide enough to fit real tight within these troughs.

Not going to glue them in that is for sure.

I am thinking that these strips will fit reproduction stanchions but they sure do not fit the originals.

If they were made slightly wider, I do not think there would be a problem.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

If your kit was better then this one...Just where did you get it?

Thanks.

Pluck: Four years ago I installed a rubber windshield gasket kit in our 28 Phaeton windshield. Original frame. It fit fine. I probably got it from Brattons, but it could have been from Snyders, also. The lesson i learned from that is to leave and inch or so of rubber hang out on either side of the lower frame to cover the gap between the frame and stanchion.

Thanks Mike for that tip...But no need to do that with these rubbers as they just lay right in the trough without any resistance...Loose as a goose so to speak!...Yes they came from Brattons...Might just order another kit from Snyders.

I just installed a set on my roadster that I got from "Mikes" and they too are loose as a goose!

Same here, very sloppy fit. I believe mine were from Snyders.

Try Restoration Supply company or Steele Rubber products. They only handle rubber products. You might find a better fit. You can order by size. JP
