Using a horsepower calculator from the net and assuming you mean 93 mph in the quarter, the figure I come up with is 273. If this is a flathead, I'm off the hot seat and you inherit the throne, considering I was only claiming around 200. I will gladly abdicate the crown of doubt.

You are right, Cletus. There are many doubters on this forum and others. Yes, it is a flathead Ford V8

Cuzncletus: This thread has given me hope aha My build goal is to attain 200hp 270 torque. I was thinking of running the 3 5-16 bore with 4 1/4 stroke. I have not decided what cam can you tell me about the erson and does it a real lumpy idle thats what I am looking for. Dont worry about other peoples doubt in your motor or its hp numbers. Its yours to enjoy. best of luck

In order to achieve a 150 HP , the cost involved becomes excessive. Aesthetics drive the price up with very little horsepower gains. Take a popular modification: 3 duces. 2 Stromburg 97's and one 48 on a pol;ished Eldobrock intake. Ball bearing progressive linkage and banjp fuel fittings. Topped off with 3 chrome air filters. This little jewel will rune you close to 2 grand . Throw in a set of 8'1 heads and your over 2500 and you haven even got 100 HP out of your 239. Hot cam and a stroker assy and you might do it.

Not a V8, but I have a friend with a hot model A 4 banger. It sounds like a very angry motor with an original Winfield cam and 6-to-1 head, headers, light flywheel and an old mag.

The motor was never dyno'd, but his car ('29 roadster, A frame, stock running gear) routinely laps V8's and other cars on the dirt tracks.

The point of this, some motors are just good ones. The mods done to it shouldn't cause this motor to run as strong as it does, but it does run STRONG.

I have a 52 Mercury 4” crank, 8BA block, bored .080 (265 ci) , French rods, egge pistons, 1007B grind cam, solid Johnson’s, stock valves, Edelbrock heads and intake, reds headers. All this in an AV8 on a 32 chassis.
Never dyno tested or even weighed the car, but it’s light.
I get many questions at the car shows “ how much horsepower does it have” I always answer, that I don’t know for sure, but hope I’m getting at least 150 out of it after reading this I would think that’s a fair estimate?
Real world, it pulls pretty good in second gear!
