possably feds to remove ethenol from gas
this sounds possably promising...
Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Muskogee, who worked to kill the federal subsidies for ethanol production, has teamed up with California Sen. Dianne Feinstein to end the government mandate on blending ethanol with gasoline. http://newsok.com/oklahoma-sen.-tom-...rticle/3913969 |

I'll believe that when I see it. It's been my observation, that once a government program begins, it never, NEVER ends or gets smaller.

This will be a huge battle. The subsidies have become another "entitlement" and there will be kicking and screaming recipients.

Re: possably feds to remove ethenol from gas
you are right about it being an entiltlement. i was reading about "farm subsidies" and even loius farakan's nation of islam in chiago got over $100,000 over the last 5 or so years in subsidies just because they have a website encourging their members to farm so as to be self sufficent although they are in no other way involved in farming.... money wasted......

I work, daily, with our legislature here in Mississippi, and I can assure you that politicians DO listen, especially when they receive LOTS of correspondence. There is a HUGE lobby wanting to not only continue ethanol, but to increase the amount in fuel: WE can stop it, but only if we exercise our right to be heard: read VOICES of the people. JWL is absolutely correct - too many entitlements, but..........remember, elections are not that far away. Point that out.

I think I am right in that the cigarette tax in WW2 was a temporary tax to fund the war, Once the govt. starts something they usually keep it.

Re: possably feds to remove ethenol from gas
I know of a few gas stations that now sell plain ole unleaded gas for about 15 cents more a gallon. I think there is a chance that this might happen. Wonder how these old Fords would run on CNG any thoughts?

Marcus is right ! Notify your Legislators ! Recently people let their Legislators know how unhappy they were about the shutdown and how people were going to vote against those causing the shutdown! You have seen the results! It doesn't take a majority either! Most Legislators only hear from a small percentage of their constituents but they do listen to the majority of those that complain! We can do this !
