Default Hard to comprehend the numbers.

The other night I was thinking about all the miles I have driven my 1928 Phaeton since I restored it some 23 years ago. I jokingly said to my wife we have probably driven it around the world. This got me thinking, so I Googled up the circumference of the Earth. The circumference is 40,075 km and my odometer is now showing 2181 miles plus the 100,000 miles since it did the full lap around the clock for a total 102,181 miles, which converts to 164,444 km.
I was totally amazed that the car has now travelled the equivalent of over 4 times around the circumference of the Earth since restoration.
I am still shaking my head in disbelief.
Old Henry and Edsel would be so proud.

It must be the skill with which you adjust your points, Terry! Hammer selection is an oft under-rated art!

In your 166,000 K or 100,000 miles how many engines have you gone through. What has been the average miles between engine changes.

Probably the same engine but I bet he has adjusted the points a few times!

Gerry, the first engine I used was never really restored, it was just cleaned up and a set of rings and the bearings adjusted. The current engine has now done over 80,000 miles but I have replaced the Connecting Rods once in that time. The main bearings which I pored and line bored myself have done the 80,000. One broken valve spring and new set of rings is all that has been done.
When I took my current engine to a machine shop to have the valve seats redone the machinist noticed that the mains were done and asked me who did them. When I said that I had done them he replied "you might get 1000 km out of them" 80,000 km later they are still going and he is out of business.

Synchro, No more points adjustment for me. I am using an electronic distributor.

Hoogah When using a hammer you must remember to stick your tounge out of the left side of your mouth, close you left eye, cross your legs and then most importantly use only gentle blows of the hammer.
