Default No fuel vaporisation

These last few days traveling in the 33 the temps have been up to 42c,we have driven two days in 42+,
I had made a small sheet metal scoop that I fitted beside the radiator to get the air infront of it and have a hose about 1-1/4 diameter leading over to the fuel pump, this must have helped as the engine never missed a beat, even on some long up hill pulls.
Lucky no ethanol in our fuel YET,but it's coming as lots of BP servos only had 94 octane with 10% ethanol! Shell still has the standard 91 .

I thought ethanol was dying out here, certainly over here in the west you don't really see it. Are you towing the van? What speed you sitting on?

Why would anyplace go to ethanol when it requires so large a subsidy. Out gas is about $2.50/gal and ethanol breakeven would require $8/gal. Plus it totally disrupts the agricultural and beef community. Let's hope for some sanity ... you need a Tr.mp equivalent. Curious what is your ave fuel cost?

Lawrie, yes well engineered radiator air flow makes a large difference. Directing air over the fuel pump is a new one on me!

Hi Lawrie. Sounds like the 33 is performing well. My ex late father in law was in ww2 in North Africa. I remember him saying once that they rigged up the old canvas water bags to pass the fuel lines through to help cool them to stop vapour lock in the blitz trucks. He had a bit of a chuckle and said he got one of the blitzes cured of vapour lock for the first time it ran really nice and when it went out on patrol it got destroyed by a Messerschmidt.
