Default Felix 37 will be on TV tonight!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I will be on the show "How It's Made" tonight making wood spoke wheels for antique cars. I know it's not early V8 related, but still might interest some of you.
As some of you know, I work at Honest Charley Garage/Coker Tire
I make all the wood wheels for Coker. They will also show a little bit of our rim shop. Show will be on the Science channel/ Discovery channel at 9:00et
Check it out!

It did not show on the west coast. Some thing about gold mining in Alaska.

Haven't heard of a re run date. I Hope one of the Coker media guy's will put it out.
If you edit the commercials out, it's probably no longer than 10 minutes.
The film editors skipped a few steps like the boring of the hubs and several steps of preping the felloe's. In reality it takes me about three weeks to build a set of wheels.

A really funny note. Several years ago when I first started at the
he wooden boat that I am working for now, I needed to buy my own tools. when I went to order a spokeshave at the local hardware store I had to explain that the tool was do named because it was used to shave the spokes of "old school" wooden wheels. The clerk behind he counter didn't believe me. It took 2 other people working at the store to believe then ('cuz what I said didn't matter).

Very sweet looking!

Finally got to see it. Really gives you an appreciation for what goes inot making a set of wheels and shows the connections between early car wheels and wagon wheels. But , I think that three wheel bicycle at the beginning needed a Flathead.

Available on demand on my TV service.
Interesting use of vintage type tools. I'm used to using a Dia. tape, not a measuring wheel.

Pretty much everything I use to build these wheels could have been purchased a hundred years ago. That measuring wheel is deadly accurate too!

I was at your shop the week the guy from California was there to instruct and make wheels. He brought the tools if I remember and Don P. and I saw how much time, work and knowledge is needed to make the wheels. You also had a large collection of template spokes on the wall. ( I would lock them up in a fire proof vault ) Stay safe, Merry Christmas, Bruce
