Arrow Mustang 2bbl carb problem

66 Mustang w/69 302 and 2100 ford carb (C6DF) 2 bbl carb.
Problem with idle that fluctuates drastically from about 500 rpms to about a 1000 rpms.
It is not the linkage, but when I press the throttle shaft the idle fluctuates.
Could a worn throttle shaft have that much of an effect? Any input appreciated

Yes, a worn throttle shaft can cause idle issues.

Is there an EGR valve, in the intake manifold, on the '69 Engine ?
If so, then maybe the EGR valve is faulty.

I would wiggle the throttle shaft and see if you can visually see the shaft and lever moving. If so, that's pretty excessive. Could also be other issues contributing to the idle problem, like a ruptured power valve, or a slight vacuum leak (besides the throttle shaft leak).

dirt will also do it.taking the idle screws out and blowing it out with compressed air will tell.

No egr valve, throttle shaft is binding on choke side.
I removed the carb and use oil, a little bit better, but still not right.
Now I'm thinking one of the throttle plates is binding or misaligned. Will check

Problem resolved, the throttle shaft was sticking but the erratic idle was mainly caused by a loose throttle lever on the throttle shaft. I tightened it by peening
