terminal Crimping Tool
I got a new terminal crimper this past week and I think they are possibly the best hand crimpers I have ever used so I thought I would share with you Barners that do your own wiring and/or repairs.
On the right of the butt connector is a crimp with the new one and left is with my old ‘best’ one. You can see the right one crimps much more of the connector, clamping more of the wire. Doesn't distort the terminal either. Price is right too, ~$9.00 Last edited by Y-Blockhead; 01-04-2014 at 06:13 PM. |

Re: Terminal Crimping Tool
Hi George. It's Steren, model #500-210. I've never heard of them myself. I got it at an Electronics Parts store but have since seen them (where else?) on ebay. They're a little more on ebay but free shipping.
Here is a link to some on ebay so you can see what the look like. Steren Crimping Tool I have no interest in this vendor or tool. Last edited by Y-Blockhead; 01-06-2014 at 01:34 AM. Reason: Add ebay link |

Re: terminal Crimping Tool
I much prefer the Accell Pro Crimping tool. It ratchets down to ensure the correct crimping pressure. Search eBay for listings. ACCEL 170036 300+ Professional Crimp Tool
They are definitely more expensive but will provide a positive crimp of all terminals including plug leads. It has interchangeable jaws.

Re: terminal Crimping Tool
Haha, when I wrote this I knew someone would compare it to a "Professional Crimp Tool". I have a ratcheting crimper also that does a good job on Insulated terminals but IMO this crimper I shared above does a better job on Un-insulated terminals (all I use), especially in the smaller sizes 18-26 AWG. I should have stated that in my first post. The wire in the picture is 16 AWG.
Since you have also used the Steren Crimper I respect your opinion. I just shared this tool for anyone that might be interested. Last edited by Y-Blockhead; 01-05-2014 at 07:49 PM. |
