Default Re: National Meet next week, who all going

Hi Everyone, well the meet has wrapped up. Dad and I have had an outstanding time here in Hiawassee. Thanks to all the volunteers that helped to put this meet together.

Our local club will be hosting the 2014 ENM somewhere in the Baltimore/Washington area. I guess I won't be having so much extra time that week. The next big EFV8 meet for us will be the Grand National in Tahoe in 2013. Later this fall we're scheduled to go on the Maine Barners tour. And after that a short ride for us to Hershey.

The train ride was okay, an hour bus ride over, an hour on the train, two hours in town (just enough time for lunch really) and an hour back on the train, then an hour on the bus again. If I'da known I might have just done some touring in the old Ford on our own.

Because we were in a Touring class by ourselves we won a First Place plaque. Other guys in our club that won awards included Willis and Janice Terrett (second Dearborn), Al Zimmerman (Emeritus), Joe and Florann Sordillo (first Dearborn), Norman Heathcote (first Dearborn), Cecil and Kay Polan won a Rouge with their '50 and a First Place Touring A with his '40 Pickup. Both Joe and Norman finished their cars on the day they left for the show, so naturally they were amped up. Bill Dorsey and Gary Wilmer were here supporting Al and Norman. Norman sold all his swap meet stuff, lock, stock, and barrel. I think he sold over 40 cylinder heads! That's what I call landing a big fish!

The people I meet playing with the old car are so wonderful it is almost beyond words. I was able to put faces to some names (redneck, Charles in East Texas). Was able to chat old cars all week with guys that know SOOOOO much more than me. Was able to judge some awesome cars (four of the five won Dearborn I think).

We're pulling out on Saturday morning, probably stopping a hundred or so miles short of home, and finishing it out on Sunday. I really hope we have a smooth ride home, but only time will tell. Maybe we'll add something exciting to the story, maybe not.

So, signing off from Hiawassee, it's...

Yeah, lets see some pictures of those six cars. I thought you said earlier that you were taking seven?

Hi Ken, Jeff told me about your trailer, glad it didn't sustain any real damage. Hope you had a good time at the Meet. Vic
