Didn't really get much done this week. I did manage to remove the axle from the wishbones. Damn, that was a pain !
I've also pretty much decided to go with a T5 and 9".

PeterC - love your 35 ! Man it's a beauty.

The car did not come with a motor, steering wheel, box, or column. Everything else is pretty much there and is all stock. Brakes were updated. The car was a running car until the early 80's, then it was put into storage. The floors are solid without repairs or patches. I have not seen any rust in them. As for interior. It's seems to be pretty much there. The seat frame, is just a metal frame and needs to be recovered. I need new gages for the dash. I do have an extra upholstered seat and door panels out of a 36 3W, but I do not know if they will fit ?

Long time! Since I also have a 50' shoebox the 36 has fallen to side. However- I'm finally getting the 8BA rebuilt for it. Basically trying to keep the motor pretty much stock. Stock manifold- 2brl carb. Putting a Flathead back in just seemed like the right thing to do. I also acquired a T5 trans that will be backing it up. (Gears are 1st 3.5, 2nd 2.14, 3rd 1.39, 4th 1, 5th .73) Still not sure how I'm going to marry the motor to the trans ? Are all the kit's pretty much the same? I still need a radiator too. New "Lincoln" style brakes, drums are up front and a dropped axle. I think I'm moving more forward now that backwards. The car inside is completely down to bare bones. I would like to treat the floors. Any suggestions there would be helpful too.

Hey elturo! Great to hear that you're back on the 36'! There's a few kits out there for the trans. I got my from Kyrlon32 from Cornhuskers here on the barn. Gary's a real helpful guy. My floors were in great shape so I just seam sealed and primed.

Would highly recommend you consider a dropped original axle vs a modern axle. Much better look and the quality of the original. Check out Sid's (your in OK to boot!!!).

The actual guy that drops them is Okie Joe, he is an interesting guy to visit with.

Stick shift or automatic?

It's great to have these guys in here locally in OK. Yes I will be dropping the original axle. I'm going with a stick shift. Hoping to keep the original pedals. I think I have a stock steering column however not 100% sure if it's 1936 or later?

elturo, I like your choice in cars! I would definitely go with a dropped axle, reversed eyes and upgrade the steering to '37 to '40 box. If you can find a Ford 8" out of a Granada you'll be happier, just the right width and the springs pads are in the right place.

Elturo you might want to spend some time talking with Okie Joe, very nice guy (and also enjoy talking with his wife). He is very knowable on Ford Hot Rods!

Right now I have the stock rear end in the car still. I haven't really decided or know the details of what rear end I'm going with. Was thinking of going with the freebie 9" I have access to. Thank you for the 8" suggestion, I will look into it. I would say I"m still in the homework stage when it comes to the rear-end. I do want to run a parallel leaf spring kit in the rear. Glad you like my choice in cars. If you like my shoebox, it'll be coming up for sale soon !

Remember to figure in the cost of shorting a rear axle if required.

Bigger tires in the front would look really weird. I prefer same size tires all around, unless you're racing.

I saw the '50 pictures on your profile page. Are both pictures of the same car, or is the newer one a clone? I LOVE '50 Fords.

I agree.
I'm going with 600x16 all the way around on a 5- 5 1/2 rim.

What are my options for radiators ? Attempt to re-build the stock one? It looks pretty rough. The one side on the top is smashed.

I would normally recommend a BrassWorks radiator. But with an engine replacement you could get by with an aluminum radiator. There are several companies that sell them.
