Default 64 Galaxie body trim

I have seen several 64 Galaxies with misaligned side trim between the fenders and doors. Is there an easy way to align them. The thought of removing and installing new clips gives me pause. The sheet metal is aligned, it's the trim that's out of wack.

Also any one have information on painting the anodized grill and other trim with some sort of chrome paint? Ford did not have a better idea with anodizing aluminum trim.

I don't have a lot of experience with the 1964 models but Ford did use both spring clips and threaded fasten type clips over the years. A person may have to carefully remove the misaligned pieces and see how much play there is with the holes in the body and what type of fasteners are currently there. Tweaking things to fit better would likely be the only recourse if it has original fasteners. If there is any looseness, some sort of cushioning would help there. Any form of anti fret material could be used as long as it's not visible. Trim can be a pain and the anodized aluminum stuff it trickier than the stainless steel to work with. The stuff can bend too easy and it's difficult to straighten. Some folks have the aluminum stuff re-anodized after repairs. I'm not sure how well that works either. There is some chrome effect procedures and materials available now but I don't know how well they hold up over the long term. It's like a mirror backing and it takes special equipment.
