Default What cover for this heater?,unknown mfr.

I have a heater in my '41 without a cover. The blades (4)are 8" long. The core is round, circular, and 9" across. The blades are in front of the core, facing the seat. There is a 3/4"frame around the cores' back edge. On each side of the frame there are two screws about 2" apart that look to hold a cover in place. I can't find any identifying name. Does anyone recognize what make it is so I'll know what to look for? Bill

Chevrolet used a round core for some of their heaters.

Bill, I'd really be interested in seeing your heater core. If you'd like to post a picture here are the simple steps:

1. Under the box where you write your post click the "Go Advanced" box.
2. Click the paper clip above the message writing area.
3. Click on the first "browse" box at the top.
4. Navigate to your picture. Make sure it's not more than 800 pixels wide. (If it's more that's another few steps to reduce the size.) Double click on it.
4. Click "Upload." Check to be sure the photo shows up under "Upload."
5. Click "Close this Window" at the bottom (or just the X in the top right corner of that window."

You're done. Finish your message and post it and the picture will be under it.

Yeah I'm always surprised when I get it right. You might have the back half of a 41 heater. Here's a couple pics of both parts. I found on ebay a little while ago. Ed

That's an arvin aftermarket heater. They were dealer installed in some cases. My 46 coupe has one too.

You're right,it is a Arvin, 4 out of 7 of the 41s I've owned had one. It seems to have been the most common in the area I lived in( Ohio) Go figure, don't know why. Ed

Reason could have been because they were built close by (I don't know) but probably because they worked well. Back then dealers not only wanted to make a sale, but to satisfy customers also. Not like todays high pressure sale- forget about you dealers.

It's not an Arvin like the one pictured. It is mounted verticaly with the fan facing the seat. It doesn't work all that good either, so I guess I'll go ebaying! (thanks Old Henry for the instructions)Thanks all! Bill

Could it possibly be that it doesn't work good because the whole case isn't on it? Or possibly a partial core plugup because of the years on it?
