94 float height and float drop?

Could you guys explain float height and float drop. I think i understand the height measurement and where to adjust it but the drop measurement could use some discussion. I realise the other tab would be used for this adjustment but then I hear that drop is not that critical. Ford did not spec this but many of you knowledgeable Ford guys do think it is important. Can you go over this again for me including your opinions on the measurements? This wouod be forb the Holley 94. Thank you !
