Disaster averted !
Well here it is and mighty pleased I am with the result. In fact emblem No 2 is aesthetically superior to the orphan that now languishes on a country road.
Let's see if the JB holds up this time around. Want to know what the emblem is? I was going to vandalise a key ring and use the metal Ford emblem but decided against that. I found a discarded Ford alloy wheel centre cap which is primarily made of plastic but with an aluminium emblem glued to the top. I separated the two, cleaned the glue from the back of the emblem and hey-presto...the rest is history for the time being. JB Weld court papers temporarily witheld |

Re: Disaster averted !
The surface of the stainless is so smooth that it will be difficult for anything to make the emblem stick, especially with heat of exhaust and vibration. Why hot drill very tiny hole for a 4-40 nut and bolt in the center of the Ford script "O". Then file the head of the 4-40 screw smooth and drill and tap a matching hole in the exhaust tip? Then screw the emblem in place using Locktite. Add a nut too. Finally, paint the top of the filed 4-40 screw with Ford blue paint.

Re: Disaster averted !
Mfirth......a pair ? Well I reckon that there was 20 hrs work there, so multiply that by two at £75 hr (not dollars) and you have the answer.
Not that difficult to make . Started off with a cardboard prototype then transferred the dimensions to 20g stainless steel sheet followed by hours and cutting , filing, welding and polishing. If you have a hacksaw, some files and the time;you can do it ! Get to it ! |

Re: Disaster averted !
Great exhaust tip Tiger, I like the way it deflects the exhaust gases down. It would be interesting to see a exhaust tip made that would stop foreign objects going up the exhaust pipe as well, is there anybody that had this problem, especially if the car is stored for a time.

When I started my truck the very first spring I had it she blew several cups of shelled corn out of each exhaust pipe. The mice must have worked very hard to get up into those pipes. |

Re: Disaster averted !
Although the emblem is neat. I don't think it needs it. Too nice how it is already. Just my opinion. if you start punching them out, it'll work for ford and others too. Stamp your mark on the bottom of them and in yrs to come they will sell on sites for crazy money. As mentioned before, very cool and well done.
