I'm away from my old car stuff for yet another month, but perhaps the two photos below will get you started.

Re: 32 B PU damper location holes
Early B4 did not have the damper, so unless you have a new firewall ? They could have been filled i suppose.
Is the damper essential? |

Re: 32 B PU damper location holes
Never in my life have I seen such detailed information provided by some one who is "away from my old car stuff for yet another month". I wouldn't mention it, but this is the second time that David has come forth with detailed information when he said he was in a vacuum; I'd hate to be how he would be able to answer if he had his sources.
He's a great resource! |

Re: 32 B PU damper location holes
That should do the trick as all '32 firewalls are the same (at any point in time during the model year as there were many running changes) for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and big trucks and those four holes remained unchanged once adopted.

Re: 32 B PU damper location holes
If you can locate one hole accurately you should be able to drill the rest using the damper as a template. Just be sure everything is aligned and snug before you start drilling.
I would consider leaving the damper off, it is a unique bit of history for the truck. It would make a good conversation starter at shows. A little off topic but you used to be (and I assume still are) able to get the pads for the damper from Dave Renner, rennerscorner.com, (734) 428-8424 He also stocks a lot of other unique Model B stuff. Re: 32 B PU damper location holes
The whole idea behind the idea insulating the engine from the chassis with rubber motor and transmission mounts in '32 (and '33-'34) was to reduce the transfer of the inherent imbalance of four-cylinder engines of the period to the chassis. The rigid mounting of the Model A fours meant that that inherent imbalance was transferred to the chassis and body, which was hardly desirable.
The addition of the damper was not intended to re-create that rigidity but rather to impede the severity of sudden movements caused by deceleration and sudden acceleration. Once the crankshaft of the B engines was counterbalanced as a running change in '32, the worst of the inherent imbalance had been eliminated and as a result no damper was used on '33 and '34 fours. Modern 4-cylinder engines employ various ingenious means to counteract and virtually eliminate their inherent imbalance. |
