Yeah I did, saw the flywheel turning, put the starter back in and I found I had a wire grounding out that goes to my cutout, so I'm guessing that is why the car went dead and no action from the starter. Fixed that up and the car started and ran fine. Thanks for all the advice.

That short could blow a fuse or smoke the charging circuit wires, but should not have stopped the starter from turning, unless it killed the battery.

Also what happened with the flywheel jamming when turned in one direction?

This reminds me. I live in New Orleans and I knew a guy who had to replace his rear window three times in as many weeks. On the last time he also removed the "David Duke for Governor" bumper sticker and his problem was solved.

The flywheel wasn't jammed it turned just fine. If it was grounded out I would think that would prevent the battery from making the starter turn?

If the battery was good then the short should have blown a fuse or smoked the wires. Since the wires didn't overheat I suspect a poor connection at the battery posts or ground. It may have corrected itself during the troubleshooting, but if it happens again you know where to look.

Ok. I had the floor boards out and tightened my connections on the battery, so it may have been a combination of things.
