Default 35 Three Window Coupe Proportions

Had an artist a few years back paint my 35 Three Window Coupe. He seemed to get all the subtle details right - unique to the Coupe... but somehow the proportions may have gotten a bit jiggered up? .. you think

Sorry guys - too much time on my hands these days!

Damn Peter, if that thing didn't draw enough attention before, it most-certainly would like that. In fact, I kind'a like it! Hope you're doing well. Dick D

It kinda looks like an image in a "Fun House" mirror.

Wow, that could be the way the artist "modeled" it while painting the artwork. DD

Very cool painting of your car, Peter!!

My all time favorite built '35 3window coupe!! If mine looks half that nice some day, I would be extremely happy.

Ya your coupe looks defective (possibly covid 19 contagious) I will gladly help you out and take it off your hands. Heck I'll even throw a few $ at you.

A bit fat around the middle. Nothing a bit of exercise won't cure.

I don't want to be contentious here, but since we are talking about the styling of a '35 Ford 3-window coupe, I have an opinion that I would like to be given some consideration, I will preface this by saying that I think "PeterC"'s coupe to be one of the most impressive examples of this make and model I have ever seen. Everything is done correctly, and if it were mine, I would be extremely happy and very smug with owning it.

That being said, I have always considered the '36 Ford to be a superior style when compared with a '35. In my opinion, the stand-up "radiator" grille and wire wheels of a '35 Ford clash with the overall streamlined Art-Deco styling of the rest of the car, especially in the 3-window coupe. The rounded grille that is not a reflection of the radiator but stands on it's own and the artillery wheels with there larger hubcaps just seem to me to be more in step with the overall design of the car.

Again, this is no no way a reflection on any individual vehicle, but just a general observation about the overall integration of the entire concept of the design.

As a 35 coupe owner I agree with Tubman, the 36 looks better.

ALMOST the same kind of situation with my raggedy ol' '40 Deluxe. I've since come to prefer the look of a Standard better on a '40 and wish I had gone that direction with this coupe some 23 years ago. DD

I am the same. When I was 16, I thought '40 DeLuxes were the cat's ass., by the time I was '40, I appreciated the less complicated grille of the standard models. Now? Give me a '39 DeLuxe any day!

I've always loved the '39 Deluxe. My dad bought one new so, I grew up with it but, I like the '35, over the '36. It has the last of the '32-'34, "Hot Rod" styling but, I like them, no hood, Chopped and Channeled. Show that engine off!

I'm talking the original design; you're talking hot rods. Apples and oranges.

If it was the "last of the '32-'34 'Hot Rod' styling", what does that make the '36? I prefer to think of the '35-'36 as the beginning of the streamlined Art Deco era rather than the end of the "boxy" early era.

From the cowl back, they are the same but, there is no comparison, when it comes to the grill. At the expense of offending '36 lovers (please forgive me), I never liked the "beak" nose of the '36.

Oh, I forgot to add the "suicide" front end, to my other post

Just to be sure, you are talking about a fenderless '35 coupe with a suicide (spring behind the axle) front end?
