Default 40 Pickup Set Screw Size for Hinge Pin Mirror

These set screws are bigger on the truck than on the car - just looking for the size.

Anyone one use the car hinge pin mirrors on the pickup? Looks like it would need a spacer to get the set screw to line up .....

Thanks for any help you can give .....

The passenger car mirror will not work on the pickup or vice versa. The pickup hinges and passenger car hinges are not the same width.

So now, having the answer you sought, you make the investment in time and money to travel to your nearest hardware store to purchase a nice stainless steel 1/4x20 set screw, only to find that for some unexplained reason, yours isn't 1/4x20 as expected. Who ya gonna blame?

No where near 1/4-20 - must have been retapped or maybe the cab is off a big truck? Bought the cab many years ago as a single and separate item and it’s origin is uncertain .....

Is it bigger or smaller than 1/4X20?

Wow, that must be something off a big truck. I've never seen one bigger than 1/4X20.

Tom, on my white pickup (1941) the tapped hole in the hinge is 5/16 UNF. (5/16-24).
The bolt on my truck (I think set screw is the right term) is threaded all the way up and the thread is 1" long.

Mart.

Tom, the authentic screw on my PU mirror was 5/16 - 24. It is a thin binding head slotted screw.
