Help identifying these '40-style rear hubs
Hi Folks:
I'm trying to figure out what I have here. I purchased some '40 style rear hubs. The ones with the larger diameter open was bare. The other one had the bearing and grease seal still in there, so I didn't realize the difference under I removed those parts. What do I have? It appears the one with smaller diameter has those parts pressed in, but I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Tim Last edited by Tim Ayers; 11-24-2019 at 12:42 PM. |

Re: Help identifying these '40-style rear hubs
Ford used two sized bearings. Thay all fit the axle stubs but must be used with the corresponding hubs. 32-36 was bigger at 3.19. 36-48 at 2.84

Re: Help identifying these '40-style rear hubs
Question Andy: Are the drum mounting face offsets the same? Given the different brake shoe widths - are the 40's different than the 32s (for instance)?

Re: Help identifying these '40-style rear hubs
But, aren't the hub and drum all one piece up through 37 or maybe even 39 (except for those wide-five ones that were made with a big hub and narrow drum, which we are sure isn't the kind pictured)? So these would have to be made for a 40 or later?
