1930 68B Cabriolet top header gasket
I see in an old Cabriolet newsletter #90 dated December 1994 Nick Nesel in CT. used to sell the top header seal gasket for late 68A's and all 68-B's made of sponge rubber that fits into the slot on the bottom of the top header 50 inches long that seals when the top is us to prevent rain and wind from entering the car.
Is this something that is still available somewhere, and is it needed to be original? Thanks

See if you can find the seal that they sell for the top of the doors for coupes and tudors. last few years, it's been cut in short sections but used to could find it in lengths.
Also, Drake used to sell the top seal for V8's. Both of those had "legs" that let the glass go up inside when used for a coupe or tudor. Those can be trimmed with a razor blade and the seal used upside-down in the header channel. |

Check a later Cabriolet news letter you might see some offered for sale . The upper door window seal is much narrower . Norm

Thanks, Norm. I have asked to join the Cabriolet Club to see newer club letters as mine are my dad's old ones and I am fixing it up right as I can in his memory.

Re: 1930 68B Cabriolet top header gasket
Replaced my 1930 68B Cabriolet top header gasket this past winter during my restoration. I understand your situation. Larry Machacek in Texas with the 68B Cabriolet Club had some of these made up several years ago. They are rubber gaskets as original. I called Larry and purchased mine from him. Larry's number is 936-441-8209. He is very knowledgeable and will help you in many ways with your restoration questions. Much success with your restoration. Danny

Re: 1930 68B Cabriolet top header gasket
Glad you were able to purchase one. Larry is the only source I found for the header gaskets. Much success to you on your restoration. Waiting to put my top on. Received the top (T-14 material) last week. Hope to have it completed in the next couple weeks.....just in time for spring enjoyment.
