Default Open Vehicle Top Brackets

Were the ‘Top Clamping Bracket Assemblies’ (A37323) installed ‘before’ or ‘after’ the top material was attached to the front wood bow? Specifically, would the top material be ‘under’ or ‘over’ the metal assemblies on the final assembled top?

If they were installed after the top material was tacked, am curious how they got the material taut during the process. Maybe attached material to bow, installed brackets, attached brackets to stanchions, then stretched material to rear bow … .

I realize my open pickup has a 'fixed' front bow so this is not applicable to me .. am asking for a friend who has a roadster but does not have a computer

Charles Reese ...............
I am pretty sure that these were the last thing applied.
I could be wrong. I have no documentation.

Here's a picture I saved - I'm pretty sure it was Marco who originally posted it.

Once you've reached this stage I think the actual top material is attached to and ends on the front face of the bow, after which the trim strip is placed on the front edge.

I thought they were riveted on and then the top was nailed onto afterwards. That is how we did mine,
Maybe I do not understand the question,
Ken
PS- we never took mine off, That much i am sure of! Long time ago......

Here's another picture - if you look closely at the right side of the picture (towards the top) you can see where the edge of the actual top material is coming up from the lower edge of the bow and under the trim strip. Hope this helps some. Good luck.
