The steel hood on my 1930 Fordor is hard for me to lift off when I have to do that for certain repairs. There was an aluminum hood available for my 1915 Model T that was really light. Are there aluminum hoods available for Model A's?

To do it safely (for the paint and me) by myself, I've used my engine hoist.

I have a 1914 Model T with an aluminum hood. Yes it is light and easy to remove. The hood is actually only held to the car by the hood clamps! Unfortunately, it is prone to stress cracking. I eventually had to take it to a shop and have the cracks welded up and ground back and then had to match the paint and repaint it.

Two people should lift a hood off of the Model A. Ed

I thought of doing that, how/where does one attach to for lifting the hood?

Previously some one on here mentioned pulling the hinge pins out of the hood and removing the hood in pieces.

Rig up rope and pulleys to remove your hood by your self, it maybe better than with help. Park the hood right above out of the way, don't move the car and when done lower back down.

you can buy eye bolts that screw in spark plug holes . Try Snyder’s.

The hoist is a good idea, thanks. I take it from the comments that aluminum hoods for Model A's are not available. One other option, I guess, is to acid dip the hood to reduce the metal thickness. That is (was) done on race cars.

I tied a loop of rope long enough to run under the side hinges and meet above in the middle for the hoist hook.

And then what, screw the eye bolts into the hood to lift it?
