Winfield Carburetor
Hi, Can anybody give me some advise on this carburetor. My friend offered me this. It is marked Model S, it also says S 41 B, it has the 4 bolt flange that I know Winfields had but it also has 2 larger bolts outside of that flange. I am sure this is an up-draft style. Is this a good carb to run on a B motor? and also, I want to pay him a fair honest price for it, what should I offer? Thanks!

Re: Winfield Carburetor
read the serial number on the bowl. It should say something like S-B-U for an updraft, or S-B-D for a downdraft. The bowls are not interchangeable. A Model S-B is a good sized throat for a B engine. The flange with 2 bolts is the adapter for an A or B manifold. If you can find a Winfield B or BB manifold, it will perform better.
These things sell for around $500 give or take a hundred on ebay if they're complete. I can't see from the one photo if your linkage is all there. Linkage and internal parts are hard to find. Be sure its all there before you buy. Gaskets are available to rebuild it from Barry Bowyer [email protected] |
