Default French Flathead No Distributor whats available?

Hi I have a French Flathead without a Distributor .Not much chance of finding a Loadamatic and I dont hear they are to good anyway . Whats available to go on one of these,? approx Price?

If I change the front plate Will an early distributor fit if off a 24 stud or 21 stud engine? Any other parts required ?

Thanks for any help

John, as stated above, SBC distributors can be adapted quite successfully. The French dist is a vacuum only unit like a loadamatic. Bit crap really. (I have one but the vac unit does not work so not a lot of good really). A front mount dist can be used (I have done this) if you switch to a 59a type cam, two bolt front cover and a crab dist. Divers helmet type could also be used with the right cover, but imho the crab is the easiest to get working right.

Mart.

No need to change anything. We build a direct replacement using a drawing off the orginal using a chevrolet housing.
Cost is $180 with contact points.

In mine, since I used an 8BA cam, I used a stock distributor w/Pertronix conversion and now Bubba's Chevy conversion one - no need for the French unit in particular I would think but "Bubba knows best" !

John,

I have an orignal French distributor from a French Block at home. If you want it sent me a PM. I'm living in Germany

Bob I must have just missed that Distributor I have been to that Swap for the last 5 years!!!One of the best I have been to in France , Though I imagine the one's in the North might be better .

Have you posted pictures of your 32 Tudor on here yet? I am sure that lot's of people on here would like to see it
.The European Tudors were a lbit different than the USA versions.
