Default 32 intake to Stromberg carburetor adapter?

Does anyone make or supply an adapter to keep the Detroit Lubricator intake on an original 32 but use a more reliable Stromberg? Not looking to change out the generator, etc. Thanks

One of those would create a real challenge setting up the choke and throttle controls as the Stromberg carburetor would end up mounted sideways. There could also be complications for the fuel level/float valve.

Yes, back in the day they made those. I have one somewhere in my stuff, and I know tomcarmen here on the Barn is running one on a very original 32 5w. Most people just put a 34 manifold on. I will let you know if I find mine, as I KNOW I will never use it. The 2 I have seen don't mount the carb sideways which would be a pain like David said.

I believe you are going to find that the spacing of the two (2) studs on the original '32 intake are different than the spacing on the adapters. I checked with Secrets of Speed about their adapter a year or so ago and found that the adapter they offer wouldn't fit the original intake. Bummer!

I purchased an adapter made by TransDapt that would probably work. It is made to adapt several brands of carbs to several types of single barrel manifolds. I have not installed one yet as I sold the original '32 manifold. You would need the "D" shaped Stromberg base and not the "chevron" style base carb. I would shave the TransDapt adapter to the footprint of the Stromberg base. Just a thought! Good luck.

Another link to a similar adapter:

Stay safe!
