Transmission case has casting # 48-7XX
Helping a friend buy a 1935 trans case for the larger V8. Found one w a casting # of 48-7XX on lower rear left next to tail shaft hole. Is that a correct case casting for the 1935?

What is the LARGER v -8 motor? I may have a case for a 1935 or at least one that would be useable in a 1935 with a Ford flathead motor. kx

Yes, 48 prefix denotes 1935 introduction of part.

Re: Transmission case has casting # 48-7XX
I have a ‘35 w a ‘39 Tranny & that case also has 48-7XX casting #. My eng is an 8BA. His is A 59A correct for a ‘35. He wants to use the correct casting # tranny case for a ‘35. I know all the 59A’s & 59BA’s can use the same config tranny case just want to make sure the 48-7XX is correct for the ‘35.

I wonder why having the trans being correct for a 35 is important when the engine clearly is not? Are you going to stamp the ViN from the trans into the frame?

Re: Transmission case has casting # 48-7XX
The sloped back shift tower fits the 1935 where it has to be modified to fit the later straight vertical tower from 1936 on up. I can see that as a reason.
