There are 18" wheels and then there are 18" wheels....I'm with the original poster about bucket seats in pickups.

Digital gauges and radio display

Dials with needles seems soooo much more appropriate

I pretty much agree with all of the above. I had quite a few Chevs in my younger years, some of them pretty neat. (Wish I still had that 63 SS convert 409-425!) I NEVER put any Ford parts on them, and I worked in a Ford dealership in those years, so I don't understand this Chev everything stuff. We still have a bunch of Ford units, in spite of the "new stuff". I'm constantly reminded that I am "just a Ford guy", and that I'm not very smart because of it. Then comes arguments, cause I have been known to speak first, and think later. Oh well, it's a cross we carry to drive a better built car or truck.
Another thing I don't get is buying an old car/truck, and making the undercarriage and drivetrain like a new one. Just buy a new vehicle if that's what you want.

And the pinion hight being half way up sucks up much less horse power that the low pinion open types.
Just wish they had pull out shafts and safety hubs (like later stuff)
One of my gripes is late rear end where an early Ford one is ment to be. Obviously my opinion,
Martin.
Its not hard to ad pull out axles to a banjo rear and you can get the parts to do it out of a early F1 or a merc.......

You'd think gm engines came standard in Fords. A load of horsecrap if you ask me.

Absolutely agree. I can't stand those big ugly chrome wheels that make a car sit up high and hardly any rubber tire showing.
I'm ok with bucket seats in a truck though. Got an old International with a pair of "captains chairs" that a previous owner installed and they are so comfortable. Plus the mice don't like them as much as the original seats.

He was thinking deeply rutted country roads where ground clearance was important.

I'm fully aware of that conversion, I've done it using a Dana 44 Merc axle as a doner axle, no aftermarket parts. I got the info from an early 60's hot rod magazine article. Doing another one for my A V8 project.
Just wish they already came from Ford like it, that would save me haffing to do it.
Martin.

Over head valve V8 engines. These cars/trucks were known as Ford V8's, because of the engine. And that engine is a flathead!

I just threw up in my mouth a little.

When I bought my F-1, a guy local to me bought another, nicer stock F-1 and ripped all the stock stuff off to put in a 454 and a bunch of other crap and painted it red with some lame 1980's lazer stripe. I bought a bunch of his stock stuff at a discount. Sometimes something has to die so another may live.
