What is it?
It is a 1941 Ford Advertising piece, but what was it's purpose?

Re: What is it?
Depending on its size it could be a savings bank, given the advertising message.

Re: What is it?
It is 3 x 2 1/4 x 5/8 inches. I tried putting a dollar bill in it but it does not seem to work.

Re: What is it?
We had them when we were kids. To get bills in, you roll them up and put them in the round hole, not the slot. When they are full you use the money to by a War Bond (Savings Bond these days).

Re: What is it?
Sure looks like a container used for the disposal of used double edge razor blades with a hole for storage of the handle.
Probably came as part of a travel shave kit.

Re: What is it?
C'mon guys! "DavidG" was right. It's a bank! The serrations on the slot are there to make it difficult to remove the coins once they are inside. As I said, you roll up the bills and put them in the hole. Read and comprehend the back of it and it will become obvious.

Re: What is it?
I find this interesting as the USA did not enter the war until Dec. 8th 1941. I would think that the 1942 Fords would have been available by then. We must have anticipated the war if Defense Bonds were already being sold. Maybe an historian could comment on this.

Re: What is it?
The build up of the armed forces was well under way and enormous amounts of armaments and other essential goods were being sent to England under the Lend/Lease program.
