Default 8ba Flathead rebuilder needed in Southern California

Hi folks,

My '51 Ford tudor sedan recently developed a really bad knock and figure it's time to give the ol' girl a fresh motor.

Would any of you know of a good flathead engine rebuilder in the so cal area? I dont mind driving so, anywhere in so cal would work. I know of H&H and Taylor Engines, but I've heard and read not so good things about either of them. So I'd like to look for someone else that has experience with these motors.

Any help would be much appreciated.

-George

Ed Pink still rebuilds engines. Not cheap though.

I know Waynes Engine Rebuilding in Riverside, does a decent job. But I think Costa Mesa R&D would be better. $2500 for a complete rebuilt at Waynes. Not a bad price.

H&H, on Ramsdell in La Cresenta, off the 210. Mike Herman is easy to deal with. Stands behind his work. Brizio street rods uses H&H .

I've spoke with both of these shops about work on my 8ba. Both very professional and quoted prices were very similar. Both came highly recommended from very knowledgeable car guys whose opinions I trust.
