Default How to get that perfect exhaust sound?

How do I get this sound?! It's glorious.
I know that it's full retard, but what other settings get me there?

Sounds like mine! Very much late-ignition and very low RPM. That is all.

You may need a muffler like Ford used originally. and run it real slow!

What does "very late ignition" mean?

Use a cheap, repro muffler like most As had when most old timers first heard them, so that's what they think they're supposed to sound like.

Sounds like tin can and I don't understand with this obsession with running the motor as slow as that one sounded, it's neat to try but my OP is hard on the engine in the long run not a whole lot of inertia in the flywheel running that slow.

I agree, and at that low speed just how much oil is being thrown up on the cam and cylinder walls?

At 350 rpm, I’m pretty sure oil is flying!

Sounds cool for idling but we all know that the spark will have to be advanced to get on down the road. Sometimes when I pull into a parking space I will put both levers up and the result is that "sweet Model A" idle. Also, I always put the spark lever up when parking so I don't forget to do so for the next start. Chap

Yep, Werner and JFranklin are correct. Get your timing right first. Then shove that lever full retarded and set your idle speed as low as it will go. That's it. I remember my Dad and his buddies would do that and then stand around and marvel how well the motor purred at that level. They always said that was the sound of a well-timed engine.
